Who enters the race for free?
No-one. All participants must pay the advertised fees in order to receive an entry into their desired race.
Are the entry fees refundable?
The entry fees are NOT refundable under any circumstances. Athletes submitting duplicate entries will be charged for both.
Does the Vaal Marathon accept late entries?
Only for the +1 10K and 5km Fun Run, the day before and on the morning from 04h00 at the start.
The 42.2km & 21.1km are strictly pre-entry only - online, at retail outlets or the day before.
What will I need in order to register and collect my race numbers?
Proof of identity (Identity Document, Passport or Drivers License), Entry Fee, if late entry.
Can anyone enter the Vaal Marathon?
Yes, runners, walkers, blind runners and wheelchairs are permitted but must follow the rules.
How old must I be in order to enter the Vaal Marathon?
The minimum age must be 20 years of age on the day of the race.
Can I run with my pet?
No animals, and more particularly no dogs, will be permitted on the route.
Can I collect my race numbers on race day?
Yes, at the start from 04h00.
Will I be allowed personal seconding?
No, mobile seconding will not be permitted. This rule will be strictly enforced with no mobile seconds of any description allowed on the route. Any transgressions will lead to disqualification. A runner may be handed sustenance by a seconder using the stand and hand rule. No other seconding is permitted.

May I wear advertising?
The Vaal Marathon is run under the rules of ASA (Athletics South Africa) and the IAAF,
which stipulate that no personal sponsors logos may be worn by an athlete. For more
information contact your club or Athletics South Africa.
How long do I have to complete the race?
The final cut-off gun is fired at 11:30, so you have 5 hours 29 minutes and 59 seconds to complete the race and earn a medal.
Can international runners enter the Vaal Marathon?
Yes, all welcome!
Must I qualify to enter the Vaal Marathon?
No, qualification is not necessary but recommend that you are fit enough and have
completed sufficient training in order to complete the marathon in under 5 and a half hours.
